The first in our brand new series, Barry Cohen joined us for our first in-store at Rook Records! Barry is a world-class DJ and radio host with extensive experience in curating playlists for radios all over the world, most notably Radio Hakaze in Israel, and @tachlesberlinfm in Berlin as well as London's Netil Radio. While he was at the shop last month, he dropped some amazing jazz and obscure global grooves!
Born in cosmopolitan Paris and of Ugandan heritage, Mr Boogie was never going to be the type of person who just played any old record. Having spent his formative years split between France and West Africa, he moved to the UK in his early teens and set about putting his burgeoning love for music to good use. A keen traveller with a penchant for a dusty basement or two, Mr Boogie took full advantage of frequent stopovers in cities such as New York, Havana, Lagos and Buenos Aires to dig deep into the vast history of Afro Latin music and beyond. For his Rook Radio set he takes you through some of the gems from his vast and varied vinyl collection...
Cambridge-based DJ and collector and self-confessed record crank, Bozak checks in for the latest RR. Expect a journey through soul, funk and hip hop with some obscure global gems chucked in for good measure!
